Rush Limbaugh Celebrates 30th Anniversary in National Radio Syndication

LOS ANGELES, August 1, 2018 – Premiere Networks is proud to announce that today, August 1, marks the 30th anniversary of The Rush Limbaugh Show in national syndication.  In addition to discussing the latest news and events of the day, Limbaugh spent some time during this three-hour show reflecting on the special milestone and his journey to becoming the most-listened-to national radio talk show host in America.  The five-time Marconi Award winner featured calls from listeners and fans, as well as highlights from throughout his radio career, including audio of his first radio job as a disc jockey at WIXZ in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1971.  Limbaugh was also surprised with a call from President Donald Trump.

Marking his first appearance on the radio program since becoming President, Trump stated, “You’re a very special man, Rush, and you have people that love you. I’m one of them. But you’re a very, very special guy. What you do for this country, people have no idea how important your voice is. So I just wanted to personally make this one and I said, ‘I’ll even dial the number myself if I have to’…But I just want to congratulate you. Thirty years in that tough business is incredible — and you’re stronger now than ever before.”

President Trump also discussed U.S. economic growth, immigration and border security.  Audio/video and a transcript of the conversation is available here: https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2018/08/01/president-trump-calls-the-show/

Known as the pioneer of national AM radio, Limbaugh is widely credited as the media pundit who reshaped the political landscape via Talk radio by making complex topics uniquely understandable and entertaining. In 1988, Limbaugh and his partners founded EIB, the Excellence In Broadcasting network, launching his phenomenally successful radio broadcast into national syndication on August 1, 1988, debuting with 56 radio stations. In just a few months, an additional 100 affiliates were added, paving the way for the expansion of the Talk radio format.

Limbaugh has remained the leading Talk radio host in the United States since the early 1990s and continues to dominate. Nationally syndicated by Premiere Networks, The Rush Limbaugh Show is heard on more than 600 stations and is the highest-rated national radio talk show in America. The NAB and National Radio Hall of Famer broadcasts live, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon ET.  Please visit www.RushLimbaugh.com for more information, and click here to download a photo of Limbaugh.
